In the ever-expanding world of coffee grinders, finding the right one for your daily brew can be a daunting task. With a plethora of options flooding the market, each promising to be the ultimate solution for your grinding needs, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

Adding to the confusion, online reviews often present conflicting opinions, leaving consumers unsure of whom to trust.

In steps Coffeeble. We purchased and rigorously tested the 1ZPresso JX Pro coffee grinder, a product that is often touted as the best manual grinder on the market.

Keep reading for in-depth analysis that cuts through the noise and offers a clear perspective on whether the JX Pro is worth your consideration.

  • Versatile grind range suitable for everything from Turkish coffee to French press.
  • Comfortable and anti-slip design with a capacity of 35 grams of beans.
  • Easy disassembly and cleaning process to maintain optimal performance.

Grind Adjustment Mechanism And Grind Size Settings

One of the most outstanding features of the JX Pro is its grind adjustment mechanism. This mechanism is located at the top of the grinder, inside the bean hopper. This design choice makes it incredibly convenient to adjust the grind size. No more struggling with taking off the grinds catcher or trying to keep the lid in place while making adjustments.

To make it even better, the JX Pro’s grind adjustment mechanism has audible clicks that make it easy to track the changes. This grinder offers 40 step settings, with ten numbers per rotation of the adjustment dial. You can easily see and track these settings, thanks to a dot indicator on the dial. Moreover, the grinder can be calibrated, allowing it to read zero at its finest setting.

The step settings give great control over the dialing in process

What sets the JX Pro apart is the precision at which you can adjust your grind size. Each click on the adjustment dial moves the burrs by only 0.0125 of a millimeter, and a full rotation changes the distance by just half a millimeter. This precision makes the JX Pro an excellent tool for dialing in the perfect espresso or manual brewing grind.

This precision makes the 1Zpresso JX Pro a fantastic tool to use when dialing in espresso, letting you make tiny, incremental changes to grind size to achieve the desired flow rate. However, the JX Pro doesn’t stop there—it is equally useful for manual brewing, truly making it an all-purpose coffee grinder.

The capacity of the JX Pro is 35 grams of beans, making it simple to load up the flared hopper without any spillage. The aluminum alloy grinds catcher can hold a maximum of 35 grams as well and securely attaches to the body of the grinder.

When testing out the grinding performance of the JX Pro, we used the grind setting reference guide provided by 1Zpresso. We went through various grind sizes, from Turkish grind, espresso, and stovetop moka pot, to Aeropress, pour-over, and French press brewing methods. The JX Pro consistently performed well regardless of the coarseness setting we tested.

Capacity and Design

The 1Zpresso JX Pro coffee grinder boasts a capacity of 35 grams of beans, making it super easy to add beans into the flared hopper up top with very limited if any bounce out.

The hopper size is enough to accommodate any brew style

The aluminum alloy grinds catcher that screws on nice and flush to the body of the grinder below also holds a maximum of 35 grams. Although not a perfect fit for a 58-millimeter basket, the grinds catcher does an all-right job at transferring grounds into the portafilter with minimal mess.

The overall design of the JX Pro is impressive, with high quality manufacturing and a durable, robust construction. The grinder is 18 centimeters tall and 5.7 centimeters in diameter, making it comfortable to hold. The main body of the grinder has an anti-slip rubber cover which works great during use, and you don’t feel like it’s going to slip while grinding. The grinder weighs 780 grams, which isn’t light, but it didn’t feel heavy to hold when we were using it.

Grinding Performance

The 1Zpresso JX Pro Hand Grinder is a versatile tool that offers consistent performance across a wide range of grind sizes. The large 48mm steel conical burrs make quick work of grinding coffee finely, while the dual top and bottom ball bearings within the body of the grinder ensure a reliable and consistent particle size. The enclosed drive shaft eliminates burr wobbles, which is a common issue with hand grinders.

The 48mm burrs on the JX Pro do an incredible job at grinding

The grind performance of the JX Pro is impressive. Starting out with a Turkish grind at one full rotation of the dial, it was a little hard to get grinding at first but did get going and managed a really fine grind. Not far behind this was the espresso grind and then the moka pot at two full rotations of the dial.

After this, there was aeropress, followed by pour overs up to and including automatic brewing. Then it was to the coarser end of the spectrum at four and a half full rotations or a hundred and eighty grind settings, you have your French press grind, and cold brewing sort of slots in behind this at five full rotations.

Disassembly and Cleaning

When it comes to keeping the 1Zpresso JX Pro hand grinder in top condition, disassembly and cleaning are essential. Fortunately, the process is straightforward and can be done quickly and easily.

To disassemble the grinder, start by unscrewing the adjustment wheel from the top, followed by the thumb nut. From there, you can slide out the drive shaft with the inner burrs connected. You can then unscrew and remove the outer burr set as well.

This will allow you to get inside the body of the JX Pro for a thorough clean. The grinder comes with a brush that’s included, which offers a great tool for cleaning the grinder.

Cleaning the grinder regularly will help keep it running smoothly and performing without issue for years to come. It’s recommended that you clean the grinder after each use, especially if you’re switching between different types of beans or grind sizes.

We found it took just a couple of minutes to give the grinder a solid cleaning.

Is It Worth It?

1zpresso coffee grinders are some of the finest on the market. After using this grinder at home, camping and while backpacking, we can confidently say that it is worth the investment. The 1Zpresso JX Pro offers high performance at a very attractive price point.

If you want a manual coffee grinder that is portable, makes great coffee for multiple brew styles including espresso, and is affordable, then the JX Pro might just be the best value option we have tested.
