We all know what it can be like on the road, on a camping trip or staying in a hotel. You just can’t get the brew of coffee that you love when you are at home.

The coffee you drink at home says something about you. It is something that you have personally selected, it tastes just the way you like it (after maybe trying out many different blends to get to the one you like) and it breathes comfort into your day through its familiarity.

You just can’t beat it. When away from home you just can’t seem to replicate it. But why let a gas station, a hotel or a convenience store provide your daily coffee when you can reproduce that perfect home taste yourself? Or why go without just because you are camping, boating or in your RV?

There are now some fantastic travel coffee makers with great features that can transform your adventure with some quality coffee that you can brew yourself.

It can really make the difference when you are away from home to have the same quality and taste of coffee that you expect and are used to.

Let’s take a look at some of the best travel coffee makers available to you today.

What can you do? Well, you can take a great portable coffee maker with you!

Here are some of the options available to you for that perfect coffee from that perfect portable coffee maker.

Aerobie Aeropress With Zippered Nylon Tote Bag

The Aeropress Coffee and Espresso Maker is a great portable coffee maker if you are looking for one to two cups of coffee. This set comes with a nylon bag which means that it stays clean and safe for your trip.

It produces delicious coffee. And it is easy to clean because you don’t want to be spending a lot of time on cleaning your travel coffee machine when on the road. That is the essence of a portable coffee maker.

This post about travel coffee makers is the perfect occasion to show Stumptown’s ‘How To Brew Coffee in an Aeropress’.

Presse By Bobble - Brew, Press And Go

One of the latest travel coffee makers is the Presse by Bobble, the On-The-Go Brewer.

This is a portable stainless steel coffee brewer and tumbler in one! It only takes 3 minutes to brew your perfect coffee and then you can take it with you.

What a great way to make that brew and then savor it as you move around.

Bodum Insulated Travel French Press

If you are looking to brew coffee the classy way while being on the go then the insulated stainless steel Travel French Press from Bodum is the perfect option!

It’s super easy to clean and all parts are dishwasher safe. The silicon rubberized grip makes it easy to hold even when you have to walk a little faster.

Want the French Press experience? You got it! This is a fantastic way to just brew and go.

Portable Espresso Coffee Maker

Are you someone who is looking for that stronger shot? Need more caffeine? Are you on the need of your espresso shot every morning?

Well, this doesn’t mean that your next trip with your car, RV or boat should be a personal hell.

These are top travel coffee makers that will produce an extra strong espresso for you. So you can be sure to get your caffeine charge for the day even when away from home.

Handpresso Wild Hybrid Espresso Maker

For that quick espresso on the go, you need to look no further than the Handpresso Wild Hybrid Espresso Machine. It is a hand press for espresso grounds or E.S.E Pods (espresso pods) so you can get that quality espresso on the move.

It reminds me of a mini bike pump when you watch the pressure to increase while pumping.

With 16 bars there is enough pressure available to create an authentic espresso.

Staresso Espresso And Cappuccino Maker Plus Cold Brew

If you want more than just espresso then you could really consider the Staresso Espresso and Cappuccino Maker.

It may look a little complicated at first but you’ll get the hang of it pretty quickly, I’m sure.

Especially the milk frothing feature makes this little travel press unique.

As the Handpresso, the pressure of 15-20 bar you build up with pumping is enough for a rich and flavorful espresso. This is great for that strong but smooth taste.

MiniPresso GR Espresso Maker

A compact and lightweight alternative that will fit into any suitcase, overnight bag or glove compartment is the MiniPresso Espresso Maker.

It is completely hand operated so it can work without power or batteries. This means that you can be in the middle of nowhere or in the middle of anywhere and still get great espresso.

Handpresso Outdoor Complete Pump Set - The Perfect Gift

If you are looking for a gift for the traveling coffee lover in your life then look no further than the Handpresso Outdoor Set.

It comes in a nice designed bag and contains next to the portable Handpresso Pump 4 unbreakable cups, a thermos-insulated flask and a small napkin.

It will be guaranteed well received by the coffee enthusiast and will always get used because it is stylish and practical.

Propane Camping Coffee Maker From Coleman

If you love camping but don’t like the typical percolator solution anymore, one of the coffee machines I show you now could be perfect for you.

Besides, if you have ever tried to brew coffee in a percolator for a large group of campers you know what a hassle this is.

Not with the camping coffee makers from Coleman.

Let’s have a look at the two different options you have, one for the stove and the other for the propane bottle.

Coleman Camping Coffee Maker For Propane Stove

The great thing about the Coleman Camping Coffee Maker is that it’s steel base fits almost all camp stove burners.

As soon as the water boils it will rise up and starts brewing your coffee while you’re still thinking about whether you want your morning egg on the same grill sunny side up or over easy.

It brews up to 10 cups or 60 ounces of coffee so there’s enough for a larger group. And in less than 15 minutes, as you can see in the video, you have another pot ready!

Coleman QuickPot™ Propane Coffee Maker With Glass Or Thermal Carafe

The Coleman coffee maker is for use with propane bottles so it is absolutely perfect for any camping or RV trip.

In fact, you can use it anywhere without having access to a power source.

This coffee machine can be lighted without matches thanks to Coleman’s exclusive InstaStart feature.

It is fast, easy to set up and available with Glass or Thermal Carafe.

To really look after and care for your Coleman coffee maker it’s highly recommended to invest in the Coleman QuickPot Coffee Maker Carry Case.

12V Portable Coffee Maker For Car Or Truck

For the truck drivers among us, there is a real need for coffee on the go. Especially when the next gas station is just not coming and you desperately need a shot of caffeine.

When on a long trip the last thing you want to do is stop at a crowded truck stop with no free parking spot. With a 12v coffee maker, you can just keep going and stop at the next free parking lot for a good cup of freshly brewed coffee.

And speaking of overfilled parking lots.

A 12V portable coffee maker also comes in handy when you love coffee in the morning and have parked your car or truck in the middle of nowhere.

These travel coffee machines with 12V DC plug are also useful in the car or RV on long trips. It is always beneficial to have a car coffee maker.

Make sure your outlet in the car or truck can handle the amps of what these coffee makers draw.

The Roadpro draws 13 amps according to reviewers. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any information online about the Schumacher but it’s probably in the same ballpark.

Schumacher 12V Coffee Maker - Slow But Steady

The Schumacher 1229 12V Coffee Maker holds up to 10 cups of coffee. For it to finish a whole pot it takes about 30-60 minutes according to reviewers.

This is actually the biggest complaint of reviewers of the Schumacher 1229 Coffee Maker.

So if the brewing time is no issue for you I don’t see any reason why you won’t like this cheap coffee machine.

Additionally, it has a boil-dry protection function which means that it automatically turns off when there’s no more water left. It will look after itself and you.

You will be ready to hit the road in the morning without the need to waste an extra stop at a gas station.

Roadpro 12V Quick Cup Coffee Maker With Thermal Carafe

A similar option, but with a metal carafe is the Roadpro RPSC-784 12-Volt Quick Cup Coffee Maker.

It brews 16 ounces of coffee in about 15 minutes, quick enough to quench any cravings. The cord is 7 feet long so can extend to any size of the cab and still be functional and safe.

You’re not going to get very hot coffee so the stainless steel carafe helps to keep the coffee warm for a little longer. But not hours!

Brewing your own coffee on the road with the Roadpro 12V Quick Cup Coffee Maker may not be the same high-quality experience as with your home brewer.

But it’s convenient! And that’s what counts on the road!

Battery Operated Travel Coffee Maker From Makita

When there is a power outage, the need for coffee doesn’t automatically switch off as well.

There is a solution for those times that can still bring you great coffee through the power of a battery. When power fades, some of us even think of coffee first. Or water. Or candles.

Anyway, when in the middle of a loss of power or working someplace where power isn’t available you need a portable coffee maker. You need quality.

The Makita DCM500Z 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Coffee Maker is perfect for these situations as it runs off an 18V Lithium-Ion battery. When powered by the battery it produces a cup of coffee in only 7 minutes, which is a short amount of time to wait for that coffee fix.

It is great for being away from home because it doesn’t need filters. It just works via a permanent drip filter.

I’m not quite sure if some sellers offer this battery powered coffee maker with battery and charger. At least, at Amazon, it looks like the battery and charger are included.

But Makita clearly states on their website, that the DCM500Z comes without battery and charger! So make sure to either include the battery and charger in your order or ask the seller for more information beforehand!

You should also know, that according to reviewers the small battery only brews one cup of coffee.

So check the Amps in case you want to brew more than one cup at a time. For example, the 5 Amps battery is supposed to brew up to 3 cups of coffee.

Backpacking Coffee Maker

When you are preparing to go out backpacking all you can think about is the amount of weight that you will be carrying.

Weight and space are at a real premium in the backpack and this means that you will be searching hard for that coffee maker that ticks both of those boxes.

You need lightweight. You need compact. You need a portable coffee maker that you can carry with you but not even notice it is there.

SlickDrip - The Kuissential Collapsible Silicone Coffee Dripper

The Kuissential SlickDrip Coffee Dripper collapses into a flat package which takes up almost no space.

Since it is very lightweight with only about 3.5 oz, the SlickDrip ticks both those boxes – lightweight and compact.

It is made from silicone, sturdy, long lasting and won’t absorb odors or tastes from whatever else you have in your backpack.

The Kuissential SlickDrip uses a #2 cone coffee filter. So if your home brewer requires #4 filters, you may consider the next coffee dripper from GSI.

However, you can also use it at home as a regular pour-over dripper for your daily shot of caffeine!

GSI Outdoors Collapsible Java Drip

Following a similar design, the GSI Outdoors Collapsible Java Drip collapses to a nice flat disk. This is great for the shorter backpacking trip.

It weighs 4.8 ounces, a little more than the SlickDrip. But it’s still perfect for the backpacker who is obsessed about weight.

The big difference to the SlickDrip is the filter size. It uses a #4 filter which is found more frequently in the best coffee makers.

It’s also a little thicker than the SlickDrip when collapsed.

If thickness and weight matters, choose the Kuissential.

Otherwise, I would suggest getting the dripper with the same size of coffee filters you already use.

Snow Peak Fold Down Coffee Dripper

For an old-fashioned made coffee while out in the wilderness, you can look no further than the Snow Peak Folding Coffee Drip.

It is a little larger and with slightly over 5 ounces also heavier than the other two.

Every ounce counts when backpacking so if it’s too heavy for you, choose the GSI or SlickDrip.

But if you use very wide mugs, the Snow Peak Dripper may be the only one which still fits. It’s also stainless steel and produces great coffee the old-fashioned way while out in a field.

So you choose: Are you ‘silicon-modern’ or ‘stainless-steel-old school’?

Portable Single Cup Or Travel Keurig Coffee Maker

There has been somewhat of a revolution in coffee making on the road recently. Some campers, RV owners, and boaters do not do the ‘old-style’ camping coffee.

There are options for this that won’t cost the earth but will provide a great coffee for those with taste.

Presto 02835 MyJo K-Cup Coffee Maker

The Presto Myjo Single Cup Coffee Maker sits on top of your mug and makes you a great tasting single cup of coffee when you are on the go.

It is so compact and simple to use that you can take it anywhere that you go.

No more boring hotel coffee! No more lukewarm coffee from the gas station!

You can either use a regular K-Cup or the included MyJo cup to brew your own preferred coffee.

Since you can put the water reservoir of the Myjo in the microwave it’s also a very convenient option at home.

Or let’s take it to extremes, it could even replace your big bulky Keurig – just saying!

As a sidenote: since K-Cups are really, really bad for the environment, please try to only use the reusable MyJo or, at least, biodegradable K-Cups!

Green thumbs up!

Primula Coffee Brew Buddy - So Simple, Almost Not Worth Explaining It

I refuse to explain to you how it works because it’s just too simple.

Well, alright, let’s give you some information.

The Primula Coffee Brew Buddy Single Cup Coffee Maker uses a fine mesh filter to produce one cup of coffee while you are on the move.

It fits on almost all mugs so you get that great coffee everywhere you go.

And since it’s so super easy to prepare a cup and at the same time uses your favorite coffee grounds, this little Brew Buddy belongs in every backpack or travel bag.

Cafejo My French Press For K-Cups - Or Is It An AeroPress?

Cafejo calls it a French Press. My first thought was, that’s an Aeropress.

But I think they would have been sued faster than it presses a cup of coffee if they called their product Cafejo My Aeropress For K-Cups.

But all jokes aside, if you are looking for a press to use your K-Cups on the move the Cafejo K-Cup Press could be an option.

This is a nice product that allows you to make a great coffee away from home.

This particular version comes with samples so you can try different blends to find your favorite.

My Conclusion About The Best Travel Coffee Makers

Wherever you are going to be on your next travel adventure, you won’t have to be there without a great cup of coffee!

Waking up in the morning while breathing in fresh forest air and hearing nature’s melodies just sounds wonderful.

But it’s even better with a freshly brewed cup of coffee!

Tell me, what are in your opinion the best travel coffee makers?
